Farmed animals need your help now

Take Action

On Friday, May 15, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the latest coronavirus stimulus package, the HEROES Act. As drafted, it would be devastating for farmed animals. It not only fails to include language mandating slower slaughter-line speeds but asks for funding to pay for horrific mass on-farm animal slaughter. Commonly referred to as “depopulation” by the industry, these mass killings are particularly cruel, including methods such as covering birds with water-based foam so they suffocate—which can take up to 4.5 minutes—and slamming piglets headfirst into the ground. Stimulus funds should not be used for animal abuse. Urge your senators to vote against the HEROES Act until it includes language to protect farmed animals.
